A fast track appraisal (FTA) is a form of single technology appraisal (STA) undertaken by UK NICE with a shorter process time to speed up access to promising new treatments, and which enables prioritisation of assessment resources to be devoted. NICE makes an early assessment as to the likely cost-effectiveness of the new intervention.  If the criteria for an FTA are met a shortened process is followed, delivering a final determination in 32 weeks, 16 weeks less than for a conventional single technology appraisal [link].  The only difference for those making submissions is that proposals for patient access scheme need to be included in the company evidence submission.
