Dr Christopher Marshall is a Project Director in the Review and Evidence Synthesis team at YHEC. Christopher has a PhD and BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from Keele University.

Christopher is a highly skilled researcher and project manager with considerable experience working in consultancy and academia. Before re-joining YHEC, Christopher led the NIHR Innovation Observatory’s Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Programme and worked as a Senior Research Associate in Health Data Science at Newcastle University, where he remains a Visiting Fellow. Christopher previously worked at YHEC as a Consultant from 2015 to 2018.

Christopher has led project teams across numerous large-scale review and evidence synthesis research projects for many public and private sector stakeholders. Partners, collaborators and clients have included the NHS, NIHR, NICE, World Health Organization, Cochrane, Department of Health and Social Care, and various pharmaceutical and medical device companies. His projects have involved systematic reviews, rapid reviews, best evidence syntheses, meta-analyses, indirect treatment comparisons and horizon scanning.

Christopher has a particular interest in digital health and in developing machine learning models to underpin evidence synthesis methods. He is also the founder, developer and co-editor of the popular website, The Systematic Review Toolbox.
